Adventures
Edward went to visit Mom-Mom and Pa (David's parents) at the end of the month. We came, too. Eddie did fine on his first airline flight. Each way was two legs. On the way out, he slept the whole first leg, and then was awake and happy on the second leg. On the way back, he was more tired and therefore a little cranky. Both times, he fell asleep soon before we landed. Sigh.
Once we arrived, we had a great time. Eddie got to meet his Uncle Mark and Aunt Kathy, as well as his cousins, Jordan, Matt, and Ryan. Of course, everyone loved him. He wasn't shy at all, and as soon as he gave them the full-wattage Eddie smile, they were fans. :)
We took Eddie to Colonial Williamsburg and the Jamestowne park (thank goodness for a Jeep stroller). Most of the time, though, Eddie just had a great time playing in Mom-Mom and Pa's house and smiling at everybody.
He didn't sleep very well in the strange Pack'n'Plays at the condo and at John and Ann's. It took a long time to get him down for a nap, and his naps were short. But he was very cheerful all the time.
We tried swimming again. At first he hated it because the pool was too cold, but when we got him into the tepid "hot" tub, he was very happy and played with David and me in his little boat.
Development
His finger foods are coming along great, although we were a little panicked at his 9 month appointment when teh doctor told us she wanted him to be on all table food by his first birthday. We had to kick it into gear. It isn't that we want him to develop faster than he's ready to or anything (a pretty futile endeavor, anyway), it's just that we fall into a routine and get a little complacent. So, now we're moving along with the finger food. He likes Zwieback and crackers, cut up grapes and blueberries, bananas, little carrot cubes, little cubes of chicken (although it takes him a while to eat them), and the ubiquitous Puffs. They're basically flavored puffed cereal, but a little lighter texture than what you'd put in milk. He likes to hold what he's eating up in the air above his head, all, "behold the puff!".
He's definitely cruising and crawls like lightning. Hasn't quite gotten walking figured out - if he starts to lose his balance, he'll sit down before he'll put his foot out to catch himself.
Teeth 6 and 7 (upper and lower left) have emerged.
Medically Speaking
Not much new. Dr. Deal saw him early in the month. I think the plan is to wean him from his meds when he's 1. We're probably going to do another TEP (Transesophogeal Pacing Study) to see exactly where he stands with the SVT - how easily he goes into it, if at all, and how easily he comes out.
