As our intrepid adventurers face the reality of a truly mobile baby.
Adventures
The weather warmed up a little (a few days it was really, really warm) so we got to go to the park. I took a day off of work in the middle of the month and spent the day playing with Eddie. He loved the swing, probably because of the peek-a-boo factor, because I would disappear and reappear as he swung back and forth.
We've also had to do some babyproofing. Eddie's favorite thing to do is to pull things out of things, like out of a cabinet, or off of things, like shelves. Our bottom two shelves of the entertainment center in the family room are now empty. And there's really no point putting anything back there, either. He eats everything, especially paper. He's quite a little force of destruction.
He likes baths a lot. We bathe him in his little plastic bathtub, which we put in the regular tub. We wash him with the sprayer and he plays with some floaty toys. However, once the sprayer is off, he's done. One time, I thought we'd just let him play for a while, but he started climbing right out, all "well then, that's done. Off to bed."
Sleeping is still kind of random. He goes to bed around 7:30 at night, and wakes up twice, usually around 11 and around 3, and then wakes up for good around 6. We try to give him two naps a day, but sometimes he won't go down. And sometimes he just hollers a lot. Which makes us need a nap, too.
Development
For a while, Edward was just pulling up to his knees, so we lowered the mattress in his crib. Good thing, because soon after he was up to standing. This has led to a few tumbles, and for a while he had a bruise on his cheek. But he's a tough little guy and is soon giggling again. He can't get down very well, so we usually find him standing in his crib in the morning, hollering for help.
He can also climb things. We have boxes of videotapes (that were previously on the aforementioned lower two shelves of the entertainment center) in the family room, and he loves to climb on top of them. He has no fear about climbing off, either. He just reaches down with his hands and crawls off. This climbing skill culminated in an expedition up the stairs. He made it all the way up to the second floor (I was close behind, of course).
He makes "monster noises", which are just babbling, but he does it while kind of growling in the back of his throat.
He know has a total of 5 teeth - 3 on top and two on the bottom. He's feeding himself pretty well on the finger foods. He eats O's and fruit puffs, as well as bananas, pasta, and crackers. We tried an avocado once, and he actually did well, but it was too messy.
Medically Speaking
He got sick one weekend (poor guy). He had a very runny nose, which made eating a little difficult. That gave him an upset stomach, and he wound up throwing up all over David (poor guy). We took him to the doctor and he was fine. We put a humidifier in his room and that helped a lot.
